So the yarn arrived yesterday and I have made a start to the festive cushions. After showing Jim a couple of options he said that it would be nice to have a red star on white background - of course I hadn't been thinking along these lines, but it seems a good idea so I have gotten started on the first star

We have family coming around at New Year which is going to be great - the only problem is there will be 6 of us in total and we only have a two-sweater sofa and a single easy chair, meaning we a three chairs short.
We have a comfortable, and reasonably large footstool so then I figured we'd just have to use 2 dining chairs. They can be uncomfortable though when you sit on them for any length of time, so then I came up with the idea of crocheting some red and white cushions. Good old eBay came up with the goods and so I have ordered some red yarn and cream yarn that has sequins spun into it. I have the ideal stitch in mind as well; a wavy one so hopefully the will look good as good in real life as they do in my head - and being crocheted, they shouldn't take long to make up.

I've just spent the majority of the afternoon sewing up some "Christmas Bunting".
The most time consuming bit was sewing around all the letters to fix them onto the flags. Luckily I had ironed on interfacing and cut out the letters earlier in the week otherwise it would have taken all day.
However I'm really pleased with the outcome and of course, we are going to be able to bring it out every year.
